WHAT BOOK SUMMARIES?
We use the Blinkist app. Blinkist is a tool that condenses non-fiction books into 15 minute summaries, so that the most important information can be digested quickly and easily. You can read or listen to the ‘Blinks’, so it’s easy to consume the information on the run.
There are over 5,000 books in the Blinkist library and about 40 new titles per month. You also get access to shortcasts, mini-podcasts, which are a great source of bite-size learning. A fantastic tool to learn quickly, broaden your reading repertoire, and gain multiple perspectives on a topic fast.
When you join READ TO LEAD® we provide a discount code to download the app and there is a video on how to use the tool in the READ TO LEAD® Membership Portal.
WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT?
Your commitment is listening to 1 – 2 blinks a month c.15-30mins in total, and attending the 1hr monthly discussion via Zoom. 90 minutes per month total.
Input and action are what make the community valuable and fuels growth. Monthly updates on your actions, learnings and successes, within the LinkedIn group, are important inspiration and motivation for you and your peers.
As with anything, you get out what you put in.
HOW DOES READ TO LEAD® WORK?
We set a theme for the month, hot topics that are relevant, and a mixture of business and personal.
We select two blinks to provide some breadth, and ideally a different perspective. These need to be read or listened to prior to the monthly session.
We meet the Thursday of the 3rd full week of the month 1:30-2:30 (GMT) via zoom.
We keep information and communication light. Typically, a few posts a week in the LI group, and a weekly email to provide extra bitesize resources, involve members in the author/expert Q&A, and to provide accountability support.
It’s not intense. It’s exactly the opposite.
THE READ TO LEAD® PROGRAMME (Monthly Cycle):
Week 1 – LEARN – through book summaries and additional bite-size resources.
Week 2 – EXPLORE – we deepen our understanding with a short Q&A with the Author or Expert.
Week 3 – DISCUSS – we meet for one-hour monthly to discuss our thoughts and ideas with likeminded professionals.
Week 4 – ACTION – we turn our learning into action and provide accountability support to get results.
